About Us

Hope Cogen, owner of High Hopes Dog Training, has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Massachusetts. She taught Elementary School for five years in South Florida before starting her own dog training business in 2000. Hope uses positive reinforcement methods for the training and behavior modification of dogs. She strives to make training fun for both dogs and humans and is dedicated to educating dog owners and their families about the effectiveness of positive training methods.

In addition to training her own rescued dogs, Hope works with local rescue groups. She assists in transitioning rescued puppies and dogs into their new homes, which can often be a challenging experience for both dogs and humans. Hope has also prepared many puppies and dogs to become certified therapy dogs, doing extensive socialization and training.

With her background in Elementary Education and as a mother of a five-year-old, Hope is uniquely qualified to assist families in training their dogs. She encourages children to be an active part of the training process as well as in the daily care of their dog. Hope emphasizes proactive dog training in order to avoid problems in the future as well as to keep puppies and dogs in their homes and out of shelters.

Hope is a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (www.apdt.com), a national organization of individual trainers who are committed to becoming better trainers through education. The APDT encourages its members to make use of training methods that use reinforcement and rewards, not punishment, to achieve desired behaviors.

Leslie and the boys and I want to thank you again for helping us to train Bruno. Bruno is doing great—our friends are so impressed when they see little Bruno ring a bell to tell us nature is calling. The entire training experience was positive for all of us. Your kind and gentle manner were exactly what we were looking for in a trainer, and we love watching the boys play their "training games" with Bruno. We have already recommended you to friends who are looking for a warm and caring trainer who knows there is hope (Hope) for every dog.
